Strathfield Australia Day Celebrations
For immediate release
17 January 2018
Preparations for Strathfield’s Australia Day celebrations are well underway, with nominations for Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year closing on Tuesday 23 January. Australia Day is a fantastic time to provide recognition to outstanding members of the community who always go the extra mile.
Strathfield Australia Day celebrations will take place at Strathfield Park from 8.30am – 1.00pm, starting with a citizenship ceremony, speech from Australia Day Ambassador Lorrae Desmond MBE and an award presentation for Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year. This year, there will be three finalists in both categories, with the award recipients to be announced on the day.
From 10am – 1pm there will be a free sausage sizzle, jumping castle, face painters and fun family activities provided by Life Be In It. Be sure not to miss out on the always popular reptile display which will feature a turtle, snake and the quintessential Australian experience of patting a baby crocodile.
When: Friday 26 January 2018, 8.30am – 1.00pm
Where: Strathfield Park, near the rotunda
